A Philadelphia Eagles t-shirt lay on the floor with an Arizona Cardinals cap sitting on top in front of Kobe Bryant’s locker.
“One of his teammates made it a doormat,” said one of the Lakers’ equipment guys, laughing.
The shirt was Bryant’s. It had been hanging outside his locker ever since the NFL playoffs began, an ode to the star’s favorite football team.
The cap belonged to Derek Fisher, who had to wear it in a picture because he lost a bet to his brother-in-law. Apparently, the brother-in-law was confident of the Cardinals’ ability to reach the Super Bowl. Fish is a Cowboys fan. No need to discuss their post-season chances.
“I was happy to take the picture,” a beaming Bryant said. “Because Fish thought the Cowgirls would win.”
Bryant wasn’t crying even though his beloved Eagles lost to the Cardinals.
“Nope, I’m celebrating their season,” said the Philadelphia-raised Bryant, who returned the shirt to its place, hanging outside his locker.
