In case you’ve been hiding on Pluto let me give you the good news. Kobe Bryant broke the Madison Square Garden 1 game scoring record with 61 points against the Knicks monday night in a Laker blowout over the Knicks. What made Kobe’s scoring output even more impressive is that he went a perfect 20 for 20 from the free throw line and shot 19-31 from the field. A pretty high shooting percentage for such a high scoring output. He was definintely in the zone to say the least!
Even more amazing, he poured in his 61 points in only 37 minutes of action. That’s basically equivelent to 3 quarters of play. This is a stat that will go largly unoticed by the media as they continue to “drool” over the NBA’s golden child Lebron James. But 61 points in 3 quarters in a 3rd game in 4 nights on the road is simply incredible!!! Below is a video of Kobe Bryant talking after the game during the press conference and below that is the highlights of the game where Kobe shoots the lights out. Enjoy!
Congrats Kobe on a terrific game! You showed once again why you are the Best Basketball Player on the Planet!
In retrospect, that has to make you wonder what it would be like if Kobe Bryant played in the Eastern Conference. Even though this year there are 3 championship contenders in the East, the rest of the East is still pretty much garbage with the exception of a few up and coming teams like Atlanta and Miami. If Kobe Bryant can score 61 points this easily against an Eastern Conference team it makes you think that has numbers would be ridiculous playing Eastern Conference teams 4-6 times per season in comparison to 2. Yet another reason why it’s ridiculous right now to compare Lebron James to Kobe Bryant. It’s not even a comparison right now as Kobe Bryant continues to dominate the NBA.
