Kobe Bryant has edged out Tim Duncan as the Sporting News’ NBA Athlete of the Decade. Was their really any argument against him? Well apparently there was. In tthe SportingNews.com voting poll 55% voted for Kobe while 45% voted for Timmy. So it was very close. Statistically here is how the two matchup up.
Bryant: 28.2 points per game, 5.9 rebounds, 5.2 assists, one MVP, four titles
Duncan: 21.2 points per game, 11.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists, two MVPs, three titles
To me, the number of titles says it all. And it reality because Kobe has an extra title over Tim Duncan there really is not a debate for Tim Duncan. The best player on the best team of the last decade should be the best player of the decade. Period. And that’s not to mention all of the incredible things Kobe Bryant has accomplished on an individual level in the past 10 seasons. Things like 81 points in a game. 62 points in 3 quarters. I can go on all day!!!!
Who do you think is the NBA Player of the Decade? The debate at Sporting News’ was for Kobe and Timmy. Was their somebody else they missed? And who do you think is the Best Athlete in all sports in the last decade? Chime in with your opinions. They are wanted!
