Kobe vs. LeBron. The debate could go on and on. Sure, both of them came straight out of high school, but how else do they compare Well, certainly not in their hype coming out of high school. Kobe Bryant was drafted in 1996 with the 13th pick by the Charlotte Hornets, and was later traded to the Los Angeles Lakers for Vlade Divac.
LeBron, on the other hand, who had huge hype coming out of high school, was drafted in 2003 with the first pick by the Cleveland Cavaliers. Right when LeBron entered the NBA, questions rose as of whether he would relate to Michael Jordan or not. Well, LeBron would have to win seven or more titles, and have a great passion for the game. Kobe is on that track, having won three straight titles of his own.
Many people like to compare Kobe and LeBron to Jordan’s style of play. I would agree that both of their styles of play are similar to Jordan’s, but Kobe- in my opinion, has a more Jordan-like game than LeBron.
Kobe can single-handedly take over a game when needed, from both sides of the floor. This means that Kobe can tighten up on defense, as well as become a scoring threat from both inside and outside.
LeBron, on the other hand, can take over a game, but I question his ability to be able to shoot from beyond the arc consistently, when needed.
Sure, both players get the media attention that Jordan did, but who deserves to be put in that company, as a Michael Jordan type player?
The debate will go on for as long as these two great players are around.
My only question is, who is more deserving of being most compared to such a legend in the NBA?
