Kobe Bryant knew his new lighter shoes would come in handy at some point.
That point was Sunday.
Bryant wore down the soles of his Nike Zoom Kobe IV’s chasing Miami’s All-Star guard Dwyane Wade around the court in between scoring 19 points and handing out seven assists.
“It’s the most I’ve ran in a long time,” Bryant said. “Chasing a guy full court, denying him all over the place. It was fun though.”
Wade, who finished with 27 points on 10-of-22 shooting and 6-of-7 free throws, called it a fun game, despite losing. His one-on-one battle with Bryant was worth the 48 minutes of huffing and puffing.
“That’s what it’s all about,” Wade said. “Overall, that’s what you play for, the match-ups. We both paly hard. With guys like Kobe, you love to play those games. He was on me all over the court and for me, it was fun trying to figure out a way to get open and do different things.”
