Pau Gasol’s Numbers Equal to Kevin Garnett

The Lakers Nation put together a cool article today for discussion on their blog, about Pau Gasol and whether or not he is equally been an impact on the Lakers as Kevin Garnett has been on the Boston Celtics. It’s a very interesting topic and you will be alarmed as I was about how their numbers match up. I actually assumed that KG’s numbers were much higher in all categories that Pau’s, being that he is a strong candidate for MVP. And that’s the purpose of bringing this subject up. The fact that Kevin Garnett is being considered as an MVP over Kobe Bryant when his numbers are no better than Pau Gasol’s! Here they are:

  1. every team, player and coach that is going to the playoffs better get on their knees and pray that kobe wins the mvp. if he doesnt, he is gonna unleash his anger on any team stupid enough to clash with him. i know that he says that if he doesnt win mvp that it wont bother him but we all know that it will

  2. Haha! I love it! This is so true. It feels like Chris Paul is going to win the MVP award. In which case you know Kobe is going to have a chip on his shoulder all playoffs. In that case, maybe us Laker fans should be hoping he doesn’t win it! So that he gets pissed off and tears everybody apart come playoff time.

  3. kg averages 33 minutes. in 43 of their 63 wins, the c’s have won double digits. in the past couple wins for the c’s, the starters have played around 20 minutes, while their bench has played the entire fourth quarter and won.

one game, the big 3 didn’t play at all, and the bench beat a team by 20!!!

to compare kg to pau is not only stupid, but laughable.

    pau can’t guard a pylon.

pau hasn’t lead his team to 8 straight playoff appearances.

pay can’t defend the pick and roll.

most of all pau can’t even win one playoff game! say what you will about kg taking many tries to get out of the first round, but those teams pau was on in memphis for three straight years, winning around 50 games each year had more talented than any team kg had in minny!

and to make it even an even more stupid topic, pau came in the middle of the season!!!

    kg was there all season.

he just dropped like 24 points in 29 minutes the other day. kg is a stud, hall of famer and better than pau in every way.
the dude actually tries to defend!!!!!!!!

  4. lol kg averages better number in less minutes.

and this is a case for pau somehow?

is pau now an mvp candidate?

you are comparing the 2004 mvp to a soft big man that can’t defend?

even hubie brown, his old coach says pau isn’t a good defender!

hard to blame kg for averaging so few minutes and averaging less than he did since his rookie year! not his fault his team blows everyone including the lakers twice this season…oh wait it is!

  5. Pau can’t guard a Pylon? So I guess if you watched today’s game against the Spurs then Tim Duncan must be a pylon right? Please! Numbers don’t lie. Even if you are a big Kevin Garnett fan. Pau’s numbers are equivalent with KG’s, even after his arrival in Lakerland. And in case you forgot, those two blowouts against the Lakers were without Pau Gasol in the linup. So I guess this will just have to be settled in the Finals.
