Slow down Chicken Little. I’m obviously referring to every Laker fan that just jumped ship 20 days into an eight month cruise. The Kings hammered the Lakers to put the breaks on an eight game skid sending fans all over LA into an apocalyptic spin declaring the season all but over. Carrying one of the worst home records in the league, the Kings outworked, out defended and severely out shot the heavily favored Lakers. Two minutes later, the Lakers championship odds in Vegas fell from 3-1 to 100-1; just kidding. Do the Lakers have some holes? Yes. Will they win 70 games? Please. Are the Lakers still one of the elite teams in the league? Yes. One game doesn’t determine an entire season and it surely doesn’t mean a championship contender just became the Clippers. So let’s put down the crazy pills and put on those reality caps. What every fan should be thinking is that the Lakers have work to do. And unless David Stern just held an emergency conference to announce the Finals start tomorrow, the Lakers have the rest of the season to improve. And if you’re still freaking out, just remember that the Zen Master and Mamba are steering the ship. One more thing…fan is short for fanatic.
